Courtyard space in any residential block is one of the points of attraction. Today, developers understand: it is no longer enough to just put a bench, a slide, and a swing, it is important to think about comfort and safety for the residents of all ages. And it is even better to build a yard with a twist so that it becomes a competitive advantage sticking in the memory which leaves only positive emotions and makes people want to come back there and spend time with their family.
We selected several unusual playgrounds from around the world – perhaps they will become an inspiration for our real estate developers as well. These playgrounds will fascinate not only children but also their parents. After all, each of us wants to feel like a child again at least for a few minutes!
Gulliver, Valencia, Spain
Children's amusement park in Valencia is famous for its gigantic figure of Lemuel Gulliver which looks like it's leaped off the pages of the famous novel by Jonathan Swift. It’s not only cool to be photographed with the lying giant, but it's also a great fun to play on it: you can find slides, ladders, swings, and other elements inherent in ordinary children's playgrounds.
MonstroCity, St. Louis, USA
Climbing through forged tunnels connecting two real North American F-86F-40-NA Sabre planes – that is an adventure that both children and adults dream of. This structure, located in the city museum of St. Louis, is absolutely safe, however, if your nervous system is weak, it is better to look at it from the side – that will also an impressive sight.
Children's Water Playground, Bol, Croatia
It is a pity that in our harsh climate such a playground cannot function in a proper way, but that's why it is even more unique. The whole set of inflatables is installed afloat in the Golden Horn Bay. There are slides, trampolines, various obstacles, and even swings!
Hide and Seek Ground, Haryana, India
A simple, but creatively equipped playground in the Indian state of Haryana. Many moving panels of wood and metal allow to create a maze in which it is very cool to hide and play. An unusual idea for a playground in the courtyard!
Dancing Houses, Copenhagen, Denmark
In one of the gated communities of Copenhagen, they've arranged a fun playground: it consists of houses, very similar to those that surround the yard, but the houses decided to dance a little. The houses are equipped with slides and rope bridges, and you can also climb their walls like climbing ones.
Children's Botanic Garden, Singapore
Sand, stones, trees – who have actually said that the playground should be made of plastic? An interactive botanic garden is what children really need. Imagine that you live in a tree house, walk through hedge mazes, dig deep into the sand ... Adults will not refuse such entertainment either.
Colorful Nest, Hakone, Japan
They say this unique "nest" was hand-knitted by a Japanese artist. However, children do not particularly delve into its origin: they are usually too busy playing in it.
In conclusion, we'd like to note: the best thing that can be done when creating a playground in a residential block is to ask opinions of its most important "consumers" – children. Some developers even organize real "test drives" of playgrounds with their target audience. After all, only young residents can duly appreciate them!
